On July 10, 2024, the Tamil Institute for Leadership Excellence (TILE) hosted an inspiring Book Introduction event in Markham, Canada. The event, sponsored by Kirupa Karan, attracted over 100 attendees, reflecting a strong and united commitment to preserving and promoting Tamil heritage among future generations.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the organizers, setting the stage for a celebration of culture, community, and literature’s profound impact on young minds. Attendees were captivated by the keynote speech delivered by S. A. N. Rajkumar, who emphasized the importance of instilling Tamil values in children from a young age. His message resonated with many as he articulated the significance of confronting outdated practices and embracing the positive aspects of our ancient traditions in a rapidly changing world.
The event also allowed participants to learn more about TILE’s initiatives. As Rajkumar highlighted, TILE actively empowers Tamil youth through various programs, including the Tamil Youth Network, workshops on Tamil history and heritage, and projects like the Mangai and Sitham initiatives. These programs aim to build a strong foundation of cultural pride and leadership skills among the younger generation, equipping them to navigate the complexities of modern life while staying rooted in their identity.
A notable highlight of the evening was the engaging discussion about the book, which serves as a powerful educational tool designed to teach children about Tamil values through captivating photographs and thought-provoking narratives.
